INTRODUCTION

There are 16,650 tonne of foods waste generated by Malaysians every day. The main contributors are households and the living families. One of the reasons is due to lack of knowledge of how to deal with the excessive foods, fruits and vegetables. In response to the problems, many parties claim the government should organize programmes to create awareness on the issue as well as introduce technology to help consumers to cut down the wastage. However, the management of food waste is a responsibility of everyone, not solely the government. Therefore Food Management Bank or FMB is created to help in overcoming this issue. Food Waste Bank is an interactive page that initiated to give guidelines for the users of how to deal with their foods’ excesses by providing various types of alternative recipes and how to treat food to make it lasting. This page also invites browsers to jointly contribute alternative ways of reducing food waste. With FMB, it is hoped that the food wastage can be lessen.
